Vaitly Voice (VV) has two public releases so far: 1.0.0 for Mac and 1.1.0 for Windows. This page lists what each version added, what we know is not right yet, and how to move to the latest build without losing your settings or history.
Vaitly Voice on Windows: on-device dictation, vocabulary, snippets, transforms, history and insights. Recognition runs on the PC; your audio is not uploaded.
Called Vaitly Voice in the Start menu. First run suggests Right Ctrl (or Ctrl+Space) as the talk key; any key can be recorded.
Asks for the microphone only; Windows needs no Accessibility permission.
Security
The installer is Authenticode-signed by Vaitly Limited, and installs for the current user only, with no administrator prompt.
No in-app updater. Updates are downloaded from this site; see “How to update” below.
Known issues
Windows on ARM is not supported; VV needs a 64-bit x64 PC.
Windows does not let an ordinary program type into a window running as administrator, such as an elevated command prompt or Task Manager, so dictation does nothing there.
Pro’s features (Cloud Polish and Vaitly Meetings) were not in this release.
1.2.0 — 11 October 2026
First public release of VV for Apple silicon Macs.
Build
6054f01
Size
26.7 MB
Requires
macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon (M1 or later)
On-device dictation: hold the shortcut to talk, double-tap for hands-free. Recognition runs on the Mac; nothing you say is uploaded.
Vocabulary with spoken forms, so names and jargon come out the way you write them.
Snippets: a spoken trigger expands into text you use often.
Transforms with local-first providers (Apple Intelligence or a local Ollama model by default; a cloud provider only if you configure one).
Insights: local statistics about how much you dictate and where.
Searchable history with audio playback, stored on the Mac with a retention period you control in Settings.
Onboarding with a practice step, so the shortcut and permissions are set up before you dictate for real.
Accounts and plans: Free (1,000 words a week, no sign-in) and the paid plans of the time. Plans changed on 11 October 2026 to Free and Pro; see the pricing page.
Signed with a Developer ID certificate issued to Vaitly Limited and notarised by Apple.
A branded installer: open the disk image and drag VV to Applications.
Security
Hardened runtime enabled; the build is notarised by Apple and verified by macOS on first launch.
No in-app updater yet. Updates are downloaded from this site; see “How to update” below.
Known issues
Windows was not available at this release; it followed with 1.1.0.
Intel Macs are not supported; VV needs an Apple silicon Mac (M1 or later).
Some Bluetooth earbuds can clip the first syllable while the microphone wakes up. Pause briefly after pressing the shortcut, or use the Mac’s built-in microphone.
How to update
Download the latest version from /download/. On a Mac, open the disk image and drag VV over
the old copy in Applications; quit VV from the menu bar first if it is running. On Windows, run the new
installer. Your settings, vocabulary and history are kept on both.
Limits and the privacy boundary
Updating is a manual download on both platforms. Speech is transcribed on your computer in every version and the audio is not uploaded. Text leaves only
for a cloud transform you configure yourself, or for Pro features you use (Cloud Polish and meeting summaries),
and the app labels each one. The
security page explains signing, notarisation and permissions in more detail.
Questions
How do I know which version I have?
Open VV and go to Settings → About. It shows the version and build number. Compare it with the latest entry on this page.
Will updates be automatic?
No. VV has no in-app updater. When a new version is listed here, download it from the download page: on a Mac, drag it over the old copy; on Windows, run the new installer.
Does updating keep my history and settings?
Yes, on both Mac and Windows. Your settings, vocabulary, snippets and history live in the app’s data directory, not inside the app itself, so replacing the app leaves them in place.
How can I check the download is genuine?
Every release lists its SHA-256 here and on the download page. macOS also checks the Developer ID signature and Apple’s notarisation when you first open VV; on Windows, the installer carries Vaitly Limited’s Authenticode signature.
